CONGRESO AWARDED $15,000 FROM FOXWYND FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT ESFUERZO PROGRAM
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Congreso is thrilled to announce the receipt of a $15,000 grant from the Foxywnd Foundation. These funds, distributed through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), will support Congreso’s Esfuerzo Program which provides HIV prevention, testing and linkage to medical care for those at high risk of acquiring HIV. For clients living with HIV, Medical case management, treatment adherence support, food and meals, and psychosocial support are provided.
Through this support from the Foxwnyd Foundation, Congreso’s Food and Meals program will expand its daily meal service to include breakfast for clients living with HIV, as well as provide healthy food pantry items to clients who are at high-risk of acquiring HIV or already living with HIV.
Lorett Matus, Congreso’s Vice President of Healthcare Services shared, “We know that our community members often face immense challenges and barriers to meet their basic needs so the opportunity to offer an additional meal and nourishing food is invaluable. Not only are our Esfuerzo clients receiving a meal, but they’re also sharing it in a safe space alongside a supportive community of peers and staff at Congreso. That goes a long way.”
“The Bentley family and the Foxwynd Foundation are proud to support Congreso’s Esfuerzo Program because it reaches people with both compassion and practical care. Providing nourishment in a setting of trust and dignity reflects our belief that health, hope, and human connection are all essential in healing communities,” said Pamela Villagra, Executive Director of the Foxwynd Foundation.
